Trouble With Travel? ====================== In a disturbing trend, we are hearing more "Undercurrent" readers' accounts of being charged excess luggage fees from airlines when they travel, being denied permission to check some scuba equipment with their checked luggage, being subjected to extensive searches, and having bags or items stolen. If you have had any recent problems with traveling with scuba gear, your input could be helpful to an upcoming "Undercurrent" article. Please e-mail us at <mailto:editor@undercurrent.org> and let us know.

jeez, got the stolen stuff story several times now . since then i learned and take my divegear in carry on. even more hassle!!! but, what you wanna do? even if not stolen, but just on the wrong plane? had that happen also several times and - trust me rental gear is no fun! i rather buy a couple t's and shorts ;D! anyway, i guess, what i like to say is - i like undercurrent and see the point for a little research on that. guess most of us had this prob before and if somebody makes a stink about it, maybe something will change! in the end the airlines need the vacationers (and they do badly enough to maybe listen at this point) and in most cases not the other way around! we have, most of the time, choices about the airline. so learn to provide service as we do to our divers ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Prior to 9/11 one could try 'pooling' their luggage with business travellers at check-in as they tend to travel light(er). With airport and airline security being what it is nowadays, you'll be lucky to even argue your case with counter staff
