ok, ok - i admit - i stole that topic of scubaboard.com , anyway - i will steal even the initial post and would like to see what we get here as ideas / responses!!!! posted by: mozz I have just recently crossed over my instructor cert. to PADI from SSI. In so doing, I was constantly under attack from both sides as to why I would cross over or why I hadn't seen the light sooner. What are the pros and cons of each certification agency? Not just the two that I have mentioned but all of them. Please, I do not wish this question to incite a riot. I am, however, curious as to all of your opinions of the different agencies and how they excel or even when they do not. I realize that sometimes we are limited geographically as to which agency we can choose to affiliate with but I was hoping that we could discuss this question as if we had the oppurtunity to choose a cert. agency based on merit. __________________ ...do, or do not. there is no try...(yoda)

Hmmmmm. You thief you !! Yeah I also saw it on that (nameless forum) and I am not going to get dragged into anything that will surely end up in agency bashing..........They all have their good points and they all have their bad points.........As I have said a thousand times its not the agency that counts its the diving instr.......God I wish we could open our own non - profit diving cert agency and just do away with all this inter agency B ull Shi t .............. I am PADI, CMAS and TDI also NAUI and I teach a mixture of all of them together to allow my students the greatest, as far as I'm concerned, possibilty to become safe divers...........

I actually brought the topic up already in Agency fight - who´s the best. And Argo had this nice joke to it. I am telling it to every Instructor asking the quesion.
Recently I became SSI Instructor and guess what - my first course I didn´t have to pay for!!!!! Company did!
As far as it is about SSI and PADI the Standards are 90% same as they both teach RSTC Standards little over minimum. For the student not a big difference.
The good part about SSI is 1. You cannot Freelance you must be attached to a dealer. 2. The dealer has responsebilitys towards the Instructor and the Student to. So it is not only the Instructors ass if standards are violated.
