Posted - 20 August 2005 2:54 Show Profile Email Poster Edit MessageI am regular on this board to check for business matters. Lately I see endless "offers" that are basically ads for courses / internships. I thought that we look at a professional employment board here and not f***ing classifieds!!!! If you want to promote your courses, pay for it! I am looking for jobs here myself to improve my situation and for staff right now for the place I manage at this point. So to the webmaster and who else is concerned, can you stop this bs? many posts here get deleted for various reasons, I don't like to read to blunt course advertisement while looking for staff or jobs!!! There should be a "pay for your ad" section for this kind of time wasting!

Posted - 20 August 2005 3:22 Show Profile Email Poster Edit MessageEven considering its in the wrong section, but the way the cv/job seek looks of the couple just a little below (for Fijii) would be a great outline for everybody to post! Give me details, if you just look for a mgr / instr / dm - get sh*t! What do you want of me (any ideas what you are looking for???) and also - what do you offer me??? Peanuts? A bed? A visa? money? food? Or just expenses like ticket and grieve? What I try to say here is - "...need (position) right now..." is not enough! We are all professionals here i assume (have my thoughts about it sometimes...). So treat each other as professional!! I wouldn't look at a ...seek job... add twice, if I don't get info about the potential employee out of it and I would def. not answer something like that! I don't have to be on here once a week to find staff, because they stay and are happy - but then I like to change and truely - 90% of the offers here are (at least to me) insulting, disgusting and unprofessional! Think about it! On both sides - if you expect professional staff/employees - post professional ads!

Posted - 20 August 2005 7:12 Show Profile Email Poster Edit MessageFor Sven and all concerned P.A.D.I. members.
The points you raise about professionalism on this website are justified and duly noted. I thank you for having the courage to address this issue in a public forum.
I disagree with the way that you took issue with the lack of said "professionalism."
Although Sven, you do have a valid point, your point is a bit clouded if not lost entirely by the fact that your letter is completely unprofessional.
There are spelling and abbreviation errors and any reference to profanity *censored* or not are completely uncalled for.
I would urge all readers and posters on this PADI Job Board to do a better job and act as professionals. It would do us all a great service and possibly help to instill more confidence that our students and customers should have in us.

Posted - 20 August 2005 7:29 Show Profile Email Poster Edit MessageI apoligise for posting this on the message board, but we did try to email Deep Sven from his personal address which did not work.
Dear Sven,
Thank you for your very polite and helpful comment on the PADI employment board.
We wanted to send you this via your email because we did not want to post it on the employment board, it shouldn't be used and wasted just to voice someone's own personal opinions and concerns but as we have explained above, your email did not work.
A little advice... you can find out by reading the topic of the posting what the entry is about so if it is not of interest to you then we recommend that you do not waste your time by reading it. If you are an instructor for example and there is an offer for a DM, we suggest that it is best not read it, same with an internship offer, which we consider a very good access to a job within the diving industry and as paying members of PADI we would like to take the opportunity to use the employment board.
We are fully aware that most people who have access to the employment board are professionals already, because we stand behind our program and feel that it contributes to the diving industry by offering high levels of training and therefore producing high quality diving professionals. In the program we offer everybody who has worked within the program continued to a job within the diving centre with us or another quality diving centre or had at least the possibility if the person choose to do so, most of them continued to the instructor level and are working as such by now. Can you say the same about yourself and your courses? If you treat your students, guests and employees the same way as you write in your comment, then this is a pretty low standard. Try to work within the best quality of standards and then you will not have to be concerned about the competition that surrounds you.
You mention in your second comment that people should treat other people as professionals, which you are clearly not doing. Would you treat your customers the same way, briefings and academic presentations spiced up with some swear words.
Anyway all the best for your search for staff in your diving centre and also all the best for your search in a new job position for yourself.
Best regards,
Tom Schwericke Sinai Divers Dahab

Posted - 21 August 2005 22:43 Show Profile Email Poster Edit MessageWell done. It's about time a 'Professional' stood up and made comment about the blatant advertising on this site. However I do object to profanity on this board and do have some concern on the effect this may have with your guests and students. Professional concerns YES, Non-Professional behavour NO.

Whatever, it seems it did something, as short as it was up there. I have the impression at the moment we see less adds for internships then before. Maybe its just happen by accident, but it's nice to think it helped.

actually, it leaves the impression it did a LOT! i notice, that ads for internships disappeaer the same way lately like other posts, which do not belong there. if it is a result of this short lived ads, they did more for this board then a lot of other posts and mails to padi. a nice tendency to keep it an employment board and not a board for cheapo course advertising.
congrats for a step in the right direction padi!
