Dive In to Earth Day - 6th Anniversary Date: 4/22/05 Location of Event: Worldwide Email: divein@coral.org Website: www.coralreefalliance.org/divein This year marks the 6th anniversary of Dive In To Earth Day, an international Earth Day celebration with coral reef and marine conservation activities taking place during the week of April 22 with a common theme: to remind the public that 70 percent of the planet is covered by water and our marine resources need to be protected. Over the years, 200,000 participants from 89 countries and territories around the world have removed 200,000 pounds of trash from coastal areas, educated and inspired children to care for water resources, supported coral reef areas and much, much more. It’s now your turn to Dive In and make a difference! The Coral Reef Alliance is calling upon divers, snorkelers, owners of dive shops, park managers, community groups and many other aquatic enthusiasts to organize or participate in a Dive In 2005 activity. You could clean up a reef or beach, install a mooring buoy, count fish, introduce a kid to snorkeling, or make up your own activity to help protect your local aquatic resources, while having fun and making new friends! If you are interested in organizing your own activity or finding an activity near you, click on the links given.
