This is a post to get the new folks aquainted with a few of the features of the board and some of the general policies that the moderators will try to adhere to.
First off - the simple stuff. Navigation. If you're new to message boards, then scroll down. If not, then this is going to be some useful information for you.
We are still growing, and looking at different subdivisions Until then, it will be easiest to use the SEARCH function.
The buttons are a little small on my screen - but still easy to read. Just click on the magnifying glass and you will be redirected to the search page. You will be able to search one forum, multiple forums, or all forums at once. When the search is complete the relevant threads will be listed - all you have to do is click on the one you want - Viola! you're there.
If you want to jump to another forum, simply click on the one you want:
The programming guru may or may not have this on all the pages yet - but the "back" button works as well.
Of course it is recommended that new users register - it's fairly painless and lets you share information about yourself via a profile. You will NOT be able to post any forum other than the GENERAL section (unless a forum is designated for moderators only) and share valuable information with us. When you decide to create or edit your profile, there is a spot within the panel that lets you select gender - try not to forget this part...Thinking one poster is a guy and it's realy a girl could make for some embarassing (and humurous) comments/posts.
Okay - now on to the general policies. We are dive professionals and divers. We expect posters to post with the same consideration that they would observe in polite conversation. In other words, flaming and obvious bashing and/or trolling will not be suffered lightly. Warnings will be issued via Private Message or email. Private messages show at the top of the screen:
This little place online is meant to be informational in regards to good & bad places to work, live and dive. Obviously bitter posts may be edited or deleted, as moderators see fit - or the poster may be contacted to revise the post. We're still working on that part.
Naturally questions and suggestions are welcome - as we grow things will get interesting. Hopefully the users of this site will find it informative - that's the general goal.
One other unacceptable form of posting is SPAM advertising for gear, trips, etc. Those will not be tolerated and when located, the threads will be locked and/or deleted. If you have an honest review of something, then post it as such. for all to see - with the good and bad. Two guest names posting the same "hurrah! I love this!" is obviously not what we intend for this forum. Good information is.
Now...get off the computer and go diving!
